    About Me

I'm a 35 yr old guy who recently moved to New York about a month ago. I moved here to look for a new beginning. I've got a lot of skills but really never mastered any particular skill set. Many call me the jack of all trades, master of none. I'm hoping to change that and finally settle into a profession that suits me. A life that I can enjoy. That's what led me to this application. My story starts about 16 years ago when I joined the military. I was a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army. I joined the Army to be police because growing up I watched a lot of Cops and looked up to the police. They were my heroes. However, when I enlisted into the service my particular job led me to be trained more for combat than patrol. Don't get me wrong, I had done a few months up to a year on the streets in a patrol car. But, my primary training was for combat; convoys, clearing streets of explosives, etc. And after my deployment to Iraq I made the rank of Sergeant and because of my leadership abilities, college degrees and unit I was in, I never got to patrol again. I was instead put as a desk sergeant in charge of an entire military base. I was responsible for reports, emails to generals and other leadership. I was responsible for assigning people to patrol cars, ensuring the entire base was protected at all times. We also worked often with the police department of El Paso as I was stationed at Ft. Bliss, TX. After my 5 years in the U.S. Army, I decided to get out and pursue something different. I had just obtained a business degree and an IT degree but found myself extremely unhappy working in the Information Technology field. After some time I ran into a friend and during a conversation found a new possibility that created a spark in me. And that spark was to be a nurse. I enjoyed helping people when I was in the military and felt that helping people in a different way would fill the hole I had. So, a few years later doing prerequisites, applying for and getting into the best nursing school of Virginia, I finally became a registered nurse. I had worked a little in the hospital setting (med surg, ICU, emergency department, etc), but found most of my nursing career as a school nurse. I just recently quit my job as an RN working in an urgent care and moved to New York on a whim. I landed a job at the mechanic shop in Paleto owned by Uncle Frank. I wasn't there long as I found my personality fit better elsewhere. I was fortunate enough to make some friends and transfer to Shop 3 (The Best Shop!). Having not been there long I was just made a mechanic! I really enjoy the towing/mechanic business and by no means unhappy there. I just feel I am destined for something else.  I am thinking law enforcement is my future.  Only time will tell.
