    Vehicle Despawn Solution

    66 members have voted

    1. 1. How should we solve the vehicle despawning issue?

      • More public garages
      • vStorage system (semi-detailed in thread)
      • It's fine, I like paying impound fees multiple times a day

    Hey guys,

I don't know about you, but I've had it up to my nutsack with the ridiculousness of the FiveM despawn issue. It costs me at least $5k every time I play which, granted, is good to sink money out of the economy, but is just a little much. I'm no Lua dev, but having roleplayed on SAMP since 2011, I've seen numerous systems that could be recreated here at BCRP that would improve quality of life tenfold.

My first idea to combat the despawn bug is the easiest; adding more public garages. I know that this would take away from the incentives of buying a private garage, but even those are so spaced out that it's impossible to truly RP without worrying about your car.

The other idea, however, is a completely new system that would need to be developed. I'm willing to dive into Lua and try to create this myself, as much as possible. Basically, the player would need to be in the driver's seat of their personal vehicle and type a command along the lines of "/vstore". This would despawn the vehicle, saving the location. A player would be free to go wherever they choose and simply use a command like "/vget" to respawn it. The vstore would not carry over upon logout, meaning if a player /vstore's their car and logs out, it would then go to impound.

The potential for abuse is absolutely there, I won't ignore that. However, if this were to be implemented even temporarily until FiveM figures it out, QoL would be so much better.

    Thoughts?

I think the /vstore and /vget is really unrealistic because that can be easily abused, you will just be pulling vehicles out of your ass, what if you are on a foot pursuit you just do /vget and you are in a car taking off? Seems like that can be easily abused.

I know its really frustrating having to pull ur car out of impound for something beyond your control but at the same time I dont think being able to pull vehicles out ur pocket and put them away is a valid solutions, it would be taking one step forward and two steps backwards, it would cause the issue of abusing it, and just not being very realistic, and another thing, when your car despawns it doesn't go to impound, you can just pick it up from the insurance claim for free (I think its free) but even that can be annoying when u have scenarios in play and u just have to leave to go to insurance to get ur car back every time it vanishes

Maybe add more insurance locations to pick up your insured vehicles. Not a ton.. maybe like one in each major town (just like the impound lots)

I know it's probably not possible, but can't I just park my car on a legal parking spot and have it not dissapear? Everytime I do a legal job afterwards I have to drive by impound. I guess there must be some technical reason for it, but it's super annoying and doesn't make sense in an RP server.

Also if you have a nice car (like a few of my friends) you pay 5k everytime it comes from impound. So every DC, job, death whatever. They pay probably like 30-50k every playsession on impounds.

What I do now is when I go to a job where I have to abandon my car, I just drive the Dinka Blista there (costs $42 to get from impound). This has nothing to do with RPing tho and feels like just a cheap trick.

Have the system check if you logged out within a 10 min timeframe or crashed within a 10 min timeframe this would enable you to spawn your vehicle.

    People abuse this too.

Im not going to give anyone any ideas on how you could have it seem like you crashed, but its possible and people do it.

A possible solution to this issue could be to allow people to select their spawn location as they join. I think four locations would be sufficient; your house (if applicable), maybe sandy shores, somewhere in the city and your last known location.

Isn't it possible to have something scripted that checks how many times someone crashes and sends a report to the admins? That way people will eventually know the admins can see if it is abused.

I like the v garage idea, but to unrealistic. Yes it would be very confident and everything, but this is role play.

I personally voted more garages, but I have one more option I would love to throw out there. Yes, it would take alittle more work, but would also open up a new job for people!

My suggestion to this vehicle issues is to keep vehicles where they IF you put them in a parking spot. If you decide to park illegally for X amount of time a tow truck driver can pick it up for quick cash,  or if there’s a way to make them go to impound on there own, only if theyre Parked illegally. Police should be noticed after a X amount of time when a vehicle is sitting to long or something along these lines of impound. Bc I personally get sick of running to an impound of begging someone to Pick me up and drive me.

Just /add/ more public garages. One every so many miles, so we can ALWAYS park and walk somewhere, with confidence in walking back. Or taxi'ing away and taxi'ing back short distances.

Sure, but how would those who have spent upwards of $500k for a private garage? If that were me, I know I'd be somewhat upset about it. Seeing as garages save upon logout, I feel that the only fair solution would be to implement something where your car is impounded upon logout, otherwise you can respawn it.

Yeah i have noticed watching NoPixel streams that even though some of the cars they steal disappear.. the ones they own never seem to go away, I dnt know what they have differently on their server but if you could find out, then that could be implemented here.

time have got to change, redact or refund. Because jimmy spent 500k of his hard earned dowwars now the rest of the community has to suffer an age old problem?

Maybe we can break into the GTA script of the original Online taxi that would spawn and bring a taxi, but change the strings and values to the owners vehicle? Pay X amount to have it brought, or pick up from impound. That way people can't just /spawn because it will be abused.

Or allow flatbeds/towtrucks to hand deliver vehicles from the impound for $$$. Rich people will tip and average people can afford it. idk, brainstorming.

Maybe the admins should give us transparency.

What do others servers have that we don't have, how can we obtain, how did they obtain, and how can we help?

(In terms of issues seen fixed on other servers etc)

OK so my opinion is that the issue lies within the fact that Instancing into a house or hidden location seems to be quite a distance from the actual building itself. so of course the game doesn't recognize any players nearby. causing the cars to despawn. im no expert but if it is possible to move the interior of the building just below the building where you instance to might cause this problem to go away to a certain extent.
