Since the new penal code has yet to be added here are a few last minute changes that I would recommend:

    1. Make warrants expire, the time the warrant would take to expire would be based on the charge a murder warrant would never expire but maybe a warrant with 5x agg. and bank robbery would expire after a week or two.

    2. Change the way aiding and abetting works cops love to slap this charge on everything just to give a crim as many months as possible the first suggestion would also counteract this.

    3. Not really a suggestion more of an opinion that I would rather not fly in for a week to get rid of a bs plate warrant for some far fetched aiding and abetting charge than spend 2 hours in prison doing nothing. 🙂

So if you catch a warrant like you suggest, you want players to have the option to just not log into the city for X amount of time for it to expire? lol Sorry but what benefit does this server?

I just cant comprehend why avoiding interaction and RP by not loading into the city would ever be an option at all.. "On the Run RP" ? When you logged back in no one is after you, so on the run from what?

if its a valid warrant I would have no problem doing on the run rp but like I said bs warrants are annoying and those id rather just avoid all together and ik someone will probably say "just get a lawyer" but thats just waiting 4 weeks to get like 250k for wasting my time or whatever. having an option to be able to wait out the warrant would be better. I dont think many people would just not fly in for a week to avoid a warrant if its legitimate.

Well just avoiding the situation isnt going to fix it.
Things that need to be done...
Lawyers need to be more active
DOJ needs to make the process a bit more streamline
PD/SP CoC need to over see some of these warrants being issued.

Making them expire just like that, I dont think will help at all.

Or just don't use your personal vehicle in a crime? Lock an abandoned car, steal a car from local (There are at least 3 local cars that hold up well against cop cars, and Im discovering more of them). I understand that using a personal vehicle is convenient, but there are options.

Yeah I COULD get away in a stolen local, and I have but then you either get away and dont get a warrant or you get caught and go to jail. No chance to be "on the run" if its either get out or sit in jail for 120 months.

    • 2 weeks later...

I’m huge fan of on the run which has put me in the 9s 6 times it should not go to that point, not sure how to word

it but once I hit 8 days I’m going for 9s ain’t no doubt about it so to

be fair you can say the same

about probation I know a ton who sleep it off not Robbie once that probation kicks

in it’s 99% going to be 9s cause even missing you be red light will end your ass up on the 9s docket….. so to be real if you wonder why people sleep 😴 shit this is why when your on probation and get a speeding ticket your telling me I’m going for the 9s lol just something to think about like speeding and other small crimes should not send someone for 9s to sit in jail 2-3 weeks and god forbid you get in a fist fight to defend yourself guess what now you sit another week due to bad behavior cause your expected to let home boy stab you or hump

you just because your in jail

dont mean you can’t defend yourself. But at the end of the day there does need to be some kind of difference on these warrant if you get taken in there needs to be court there needs to be more court room action and rp not just take a freaking plea deal and bounce. We have this entire doj system to just plea out every time or wait 2-4 weeks for a hearing and at that point the rp stops most of it goes to emails and the fear of slipping up in jail and getting a bad report sent in will make it longer and then it’s like cool I’m expecting to sit in here and just chat all day…

if u don't want people to sleep off a warrant and want them on the run then make the warrant countdown when ur online only if possible it would solve both sides of the arguments to a degree. if it isn't possible then i have no clue how to solve this.

So I want you to know that before the final draft of the penal code was done, your suggestion was taken into account and discussed at length.  I just didn't have time to respond to the thread until now.  Ultimately it was decided that it wasn't a great idea given CURRENT game mechanics.  With some of the other suggestions later in the thread I could see ways that this might be something viable down the road given the right conditions within the server both mechanically, and attitude-wise.  Right now though, no.

Aiding, Abetting, or Accessory stayed the same, but there IS a new charge coming that will fix exactly what you're talking about.  🙂

I agree with you 10000000%.  Lawyers do need to be more active, and the DOJ does need to make the process more streamline.  I've been working with the DA's office, lawyers, and judges to help streamline the 9s process as well as increase the amount of court RP happening in the city.  Basically: less time in the 9s, with more/better court RP is the goal.

The more active lawyers thing... that comes down to staffing the DOJ better.  We are trying and I can tell you it's an uphill battle.  IF YOU ARE READING THIS POST, PLEASE CONSIDER PUTTING IN A DOJ APP!  The DOJ is a really fun, fast paced, unique RP experience that most people don't give a fair shot.  You don't have to be a real life lawyer, or even know anything about real life laws to be in the DOJ.  We will teach you everything you need to know!

The fact is, just like the FDNY, we have a hard time retaining people due to the nature of our department.  We are RP heavy and require the members of our department to learn things.  Outside of the PD that seems to be hard to get people to do.  I think that PD retains people well because they get flashy lights, guns, and sirens LOL

I would actually love to see a system like this for probation.  Make probation time MUCH shorter, but only counts when you are online.  Unfortunately systems like this are NOT easy to make, and need to be custom coded.  I know that the owners and dev staff are very busy doing a lot of super cool things for the server right now(they haven't told me this, I've just observed it) and something like this would take a while to do.  I do think it's a very cool idea though!  I think it'd be better served for probation though.
