  • FDNY Speed Camera fines?

    Recommended Posts

So i was Responding to a 911 call yesterday and Code 3 out of Town, I get a speed fine. I spoke to a PD Officer at my 911 call and he said it doesn't go on record. So Just from my side can we maybe fix that. It stacks up can we get that sorted out?image.png.facaa1dcb22050ec7af1cc7416e90e21.png

normally that statement i would agree with, except the fact that every civ vehicle nearly can out-speed the police vehicles, most cars are stupid and can do 150+ in a matter of seconds so if we slow down and max ourselves at that speed then we would never chase or catch anyone because we would have to limit our speeds, so that i disagree with.

Absolutely disagree. In our FDNY sop it states that we are not to go 30mphs above the normal speed limit in code 3. Meaning 75 on regular roads and 105 on the freeway.  I believe the police should be no different as well there is no reason for them to be going 200mphs down a regular road or freeway. Speed cameras should continue for the ems and they should be restarted for the PD.  We are the emergency services but we have laws to follow just as any other citizen. We are not not above the law.  If you are getting speed camera fines it means you are going 90+ mphs in the city. Code 3 or not follow the sop. Follow the laws.

I hope the owners agree with me. And I hope they dont remove the speed cameras for the FDNY. We and the PD and SP are normal citizens as everyone else.  In real life your not gonna see a cop speeding 200mphs down a road just to get to a call that puts the lives of civs in danger and they dont do that.

Creed do you want to know whats wrong with the above pic? 80 mphs in a regular city road when its only to be 75 mphs when in code 3.

I agree I actually wanted opinions on it but 80mph think it is a small overage and I beleive cameras are supposed to only go off 90mph+ this was when I was going onto Los Santos freeway behind pillbox so I was accelerating to freeway speeds which yes is 105mph. Thought I would ask about the speed cameras, But I appreciate all input ;)

Im sure its so good you officers going 200mphs down a road through red lights just to get to legion square imo that is stupid im sure citizens most likely wonder too how does a police cruiser with no lights or sirens on just run straight through a red light at 200mphs just to get to legion when nothing is going on but talking. Ill leave that at that. As far as your the speed camera needs to be removed for the FDNY 100% absolutely disagree with you the emergency services is not above the law and there is 0 reason for us to be traveling at more than 75mphs in the city.  And no the speed cameras dont get you at 75 as long as you stay under 85-90mphs.

If you see a cop doing 200mph in the city you should definitely report it to his superior. I honestly am unsure of how they would be going 200mph when the top speed on the charger is like 180mph though.

If you don't report instances like this, they continue to happen, cops should be clearing intersections for sure.

All emergency vehicles are exempt from tickets, even IRL so not sure why they are getting them.

Been there done that. Still happens no thanks. And yes you are correct emergency vehicles are exempt from speed cameras IRL but they also are only able to go certain mphs over the speed limit in code 3 and follow the regular laws in code 1.

Have you went higher than their supervisors?

Nope and dont plan to. Im gonna keep letting the PD/NYSP do whatever they want break whatever laws they want just because they are the law and think they are above the law and hopefully the owners catch it and then actually do something about it.

It would take a long time for the owners to actually catch it...they aren't able to just sit there and spectate all day every day as they are busy with other things as well. Maybe bringing it up to their attention so at least it's on their radar is the best thing to do...nobody wants power hungry people in the community and if things are being abused, its our job as members of the community to help where we can.

I mean if you want to take what I said completely out of context, you do you man. I never ever said we were above the law, nor do I consider myself or any emergency service above it. And like Trooper Mathers said, if you see a cop going through a red light at all, especially at high speeds without code, report it, otherwise we cannot do anything about it. So I don't know what relevance that has here. Also, there is no car other than the Vacca, that can go higher than 180. NYPD also has set speeds we can go when responding to stuff based on the "priority" of it. Im not gonna quote directly out of the SOP as it is not a public document for anyone to use. We are all on the same team here Christopher, not trying to argue or make anyone upset. All this is, is a place to share opinions. And that is exactly what I stated, an opinion.
